Securing Southern African
We actively manage transit bottlenecks between the mine gate and the port terminal. Our on-the-ground agents actively monitor rail sidings and berths to protect your bulk commodity margins.
Logistics Solutions:
Core Logistics Competencies:

Derby Resources specialises in the high-volume bulk movement of various dry bulk commodities with specific expertise in: Thermal coal ( Grades RB1, RB2 and RB3) and Anthracite.
We deliver an integrated solution encompassing comprehensive commodity sourcing, stringent supplier vetting, pit-to-port quality management, mine stockpile supervision, and comprehensive vessel loading oversight.
We operate with deep technical authority across the Maputo and Richards Bay corridors. This includes direct operational experience navigating cross-border logistics via the Lebombo and alternative Swaziland/Mananga transit corridors.
Our teams maintain active setups for seamless loading, offloading, monitoring, and vessel management at the Port of Maputo (GML and TCM terminals). For Richards Bay operations, we handle break-bulk and sized material at the DBT utilizing specialized skip and grab loading procedures.
Operations are supported by immediate access to a fleet of specialized bulk commodity vehicles equipped with 3rd-party API tracking for 24-hour en-route monitoring. Rail capabilities via TLG further support multi-modal tonnage management to Maputo.

End-to-End Logistics solutions
Port of Maputo Operations:
We manage dedicated port logistics setups at the GML and TCM terminals. Our teams oversee real-time loading, offloading, stockpile monitoring, and vessel interface management, with a proven track record of sustaining cross-border transit during regional disruptions.

Dual-Port Strategy Execution:
Derby Resources provides specialised operational expertise to navigate the complex logistical environments of both the Maputo and Richards Bay corridors. We manage back-of-port and staging area logistics to ensure continuous material movement and bypass operational bottlenecks.

Cross-Border Corridor Management:
Port of Richards Bay Operations:
For sized and break-bulk commodities, we utilize the Dry Bulk Terminal (DBT) to coordinate specialized skip and grab loading procedures. We specialize in managing high-density truck rotations and maintaining strategic allocations at back-of-port facilities.
Our inland teams synchronize all cross-border transit documentation, pre-clearance protocols, and interactions with customs authorities. This proactive management actively mitigates the systemic border delays that frequently disrupt southern African transport corridors.

Load Securement & Dispatch:
Vessel Interface & Loading Supervision:
Every shipment undergoes an individualized assessment to analyze market volatility, port congestion, and demurrage risks before executing the optimal transit route.
We deploy dedicated inland teams directly to processing plants to oversee secure batch identification, independent sampling, and volume verification to facilitate pre-financing assurance.
Our cargo agents handle complete port forwarding, clearing, and continuous stockpile tallying, physically overseeing vessel loading to eliminate product losses and minimize demurrage.
All transport vehicles undergo strict cleanliness inspections to prevent product cross-contamination and must present verified loading orders to initiate transit.
Freight Capacity & Infrastructure:
To complement road transport, we manage dedicated rail tonnages via TLG to Maputo, operating with a capacity ranging from 50,000 to 80,000 tonnes. This multi-modal capability is strategically utilized to route specific sized products directly to port allocations.

The entire haulage network is backed by 24-hour roadside assistance, dedicated technical maintenance teams, and continuous 3rd-party API tracking for real-time transit visibility.
We maintain immediate access to a specialized bulk commodity fleet, including up to 60 community-allocated trucks and 40 external high-capacity haulers. Transit routes are dynamically split via the Lebombo border and the alternative Eswatini/Mananga corridor to optimize turnaround times.
